Melzer Morgan, with over 18 years experience in the construction industry, is the qualifying general contractor for Falcon Development. He heads the construction services division with direct oversight for Falcon's 10 additional field staff, a position in which he strives to create an atmosphere conducive to personal growth and productivity for each employee.
Melzer was first introduced to construction by his father, the founder of Habitat for Humanity in Reidsville, NC. He began contributing time and muscle to Habitat projects while a teenager and has since apprenticed in most building trades. For 3 years Melzer was the qualifying general contractor for Mountain Housing Opportunities in Asheville during which time he also acted as their Home Repair Coordinator overseeing the building services provided to the clients the agency served.
Melzer is a graduate of Warren Wilson College with a degree in Botany and Environmental education. His interest in and experience with agriculture and farming led him to form an organic produce business. He taught farming techniques at the W. Alton Jones Campus of the University of Rhode Island, as well as eighth grade math, science, and computers in the N.C. public schools as part of the Americorps program.
Melzer has a particular passion for sustainable and environmentally friendly construction and development. Reconciling the challenges of small scale production building with methods and materials that reflect and reinforce Falcon's commitment to "green" or sustainable building practice keeps us on the cutting edge of this relatively new field. As members of the Western North Carolina Green Building council, Melzer and David plan on leading the way towards a more efficient and "greener" future for our clients and customers, as well as their own family. Whether renovating something for historical value, or producing a new product with a design and materials that will stand the test of time- Falcon strives to preserve the best of the past and be good stewards of the future.
